Welcome to the BMES CCNY Chapter Website!
Here at CCNY, BMES aims to meet the needs and requirements of BME and non-BME students alike. Our purpose is to aid in the scientific and professional development of the student body. We hold events throughout the Fall and Spring semester each academic year. A list of planned events for the current academic semester (Spring 2012), is shown below. We aim to organize events that the student body perceives as beneficial. Therefore, we require your help in giving us feedback about about both planned events and past events. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Purpose of the club:
-The Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) Student Chapter at the City College of New York has been established since 1994. It is a non-profit organization that is sponsored by the Center of Biomedical Engineering at City College. This organization was design to promote the application of bioengineering knowledge to improve scientific medical practices. Biomedical Engineering is an interdisciplinary research practice that utilizes other engineering skills as well as physical and mathematical concepts to solve problems in medicine and biology. It also includes finding advancements in technology for cost effective health and medical care.
Trip to Colgate Inc or Bodies-The exhibition (March 2012)
- BMES would like to have a field trip to BODIES...The Exhibition offers an intimate and informative view into the human body. Using an innovative preservation process, the Exhibition allows visitors to see the human body's inner beauty in educational and awe-inspiring ways. The Exhibitions have over 200 actual human bodies and specimens meticulously dissected and respectfully displayed, offering an unprecedented and wholly unique view into the amazing body.
Trip to Hospital for Special Surgery (March 2012)
- BMES would also like to revisit hospital for Special surgery again because of the amazing success of last year's trip. We have already talked to Dr Hillstrom and he is very much interested to host another workshop.
